Punjab College Librarians' Association (Regd.) is affiliated to All India Federation of University & College Teachers' Organisations (AIFUCTO).
College Librarians in Punjab are governed by U.G.C. pay-scales and as per Calendars of Panjab University, Punjabi University & Guru Nanak Dev University, the term 'Teacher' shall include Librarians. Punjab College Librarians' Association, a Registered body, was formed in the year 1977. At that time, Librarians of Govt. Colleges as well as non-govt affiliated colleges in Punjab were its members. But at present, only the college cadre Librarians working in the govt. colleges and District/Public libraries are its members. Since its very inception, the Association relentlessly fought for the parity of the pay-scales and other service conditions of College Librarians with 'College Teachers'.
It co-ordinates, federate and affiliate its activities with 'Librarians'/'Teachers' Associations' in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and other parts of the country for the furtherance of its objectives. As representative organization of Librarians, the Association has highlighted the grievances of Librarians at the state and national level and from time to time sent memoranda to State Govt., MHRD & UGC. On matters of common interest to its members, the Association took part in official meetings, issued press notes and actively participated in the protest actions, as and when required.
